Sitting here in an airport lounge in Mumbia, India, at 2am in the morning, I got a chance to think about my previous week and a half of showing off the WARP appliance in this very interesting country. I certainly learned a lot during my visit and it included a few telephony tidbits. Specifically some subtle nuances of the way VoIP is being introduced here. Continue Reading »

Last week on this site, we announced support for the latest version of PADS 2.0.2 and BRI in FreePBX. This time we are adding internationalization support. Now when you pull down that language bar in the top right and select another language, the GUI will display using that language. Support for the cron daemon has also been added.
The list of items that has been updated in this version are:
- Internationalization support.
- Cron daemon.
- On FreePBX install, i18n language files are regenerated for ppc.
- Expanded translation of i18n files, the ones under modules are now updated as well.
- Added the ability to generate the i18n files for a single language only.
If you would like a precompiled set of images of this load, you can get it here: ftp://ftp.pikatech.com/outgoing/pads/extras/freepbx/freepbx-mysql-intl-2.0.2.5.tar.gz
If you wish to compile a version of it yourself, you can retreive the code using the following at the command line:
#> svn co -r 16148 http://svn.pikatech.com/pads/addons/trunk/freepbx-mysql/ ./freepbx-mysql
Further instructions on building the software and installing the images can be found in the previous FreePBX post here. Please note that on install of the images, the WARP needs to reboot three times to finalize the installation of FreePBX, it’s database files and regenerate the translation files. The last one in particular can take some time to complete, so please be patient after you flash the image files.
To find out how to add PIKA channel types in the FreePBX GUI, please read here.
Have fun

As earlier announced on this website here, the BRI module for the PIKA WARP appliance has gone GA. In order to support this, the FreePBX code base has been updated to take advantage of this new functionality. This update is based on the MySQL enabled version of FreePBX previously announced here. It is also based on the 2.0.2.5 version of PADS, the initial update to the 2.0 GA.

As mentioned before, I am always on the lookout for technology and/or product offerings that can add significant value to WARP solutions. In other words, neat, useful stuff that you guys can use to help differentiate your solution from others on the market. Today, I would like to talk about a concept that I feel can offer this kind of value, and potentially increase your revenue by selling/providing a value added service to your end customers.
